No classes during the month of December, but will resume in January.
Good morning sisters and brothers;
" The night has passed and the day lies open
before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.
As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may
the light of your presence, O God, set our
hearts on fire with love for you."
Yesterday afternoon I went for a run in the cemetery after I got back from church. It was hot and impossibly humid, but I still managed to run twelve kilometres at a decent pace. As I ran, I thought about our upcoming Spanish lessons here at Christ Church. I am excited about this.
Now, it is fairly obvious that the Spanish lessons will be impossible to attend for those in our little reflection group who do not live in or near Chatham-Kent. But I want to keep the entire reflection group up to date as to what is happening.
The classes run Thursdays. Our class is 20 participants strong and growing.
Classes are held in the library here at Christ Church from 5-6pm.
You need only to bring pen and notebook.
I can assure you that you will have a wonderful time while learning one of the most beautiful languages under the sun.
Spanish is easy to learn.
Spanish is a language that the entire world is learning.
We must remember that in our area there are thousands of migrant workers from Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries. They are away from their loved ones for months at a time. Because of the language barrier, they often feel isolated. By learning a little bit of Spanish, you will be extending a hand of friendship and inclusion. On any Friday night at Walmart, there are large groups of our Mexican brothers waiting with groceries in tow to be picked up and go back to where they work. Would it not be lovely to be able to go up to them and say " Buenas noches amigos, como estan? Que tengan una linda noche". It would make all the difference in the world.
By learning Spanish, we will be forming community, and reminding ourselves that we are all sisters and brothers, hermanas y hermanas.
If you have any questions please feel free to call the office at 519 352 1640.
But no need to register. Just show up on Friday September the 5th.
Bring a friend.
Que Diosito me los colme de bendiciones y alegría hoy y siempre.
I love you
John
