Good afternoon my sisters and brothers;
It is hard to believe that it is Shrove Tuesday, and that tomorrow is the beginning of our Lenten journey marked by the imposition of ashes.
Lent is a time where people usually give up something that they truly enjoy.
Coffee
Sweets
Bread
Alcohol
Smoking
The problem is that once Easter Sunday rolls around, the coffee makers begin to percolate , slices of bread are toasted and heavily buttered, and the Kit Kat and Snickers bars are retrieved from secret hiding places.
What is the liturgical point of this?
Rather than giving up something for Lent this year, I recommend you  make a difference in somebody's life. Make that part of your spiritual journey, one that will hopefully continue way past Resurrection Sunday.
Yesterday I found Kit and Crookshanks cuddled together on a chair. They were literally sitting cheek to cheek. These two make a difference in each other's lives. They are inseparable, and it is heart warming to witness. They are true friends.
Everyone in our little reflection group is a hero in the eyes of someone else.
A true friend
A confidant
Someone on whom to lean
And this is so important. We all can make a difference in the lives of others.
You all matter to someone.
You are all precious
You all have value
Your homework for today is to reach out and let someone know you love them.
It will make a difference.
Let us pray
Eternal God, you create us by your power and redeem us by your love. Guide and strengthen us by your Spirit, that we may give ourselves today in love and service to one another and to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Diosito me los colme de bendiciones y alegria.
Paz
I love you
John
