Good morning sisters and brothers;

I hope that you are well and keeping cool during this terrible heat wave. The humidity is almost unbearable. My heart goes out to those who are homeless. I pray that this heat wave comes to an end soon.

The Gospel of Matthew, verses 35-39, explains discipleship in a simple and profound way.

" For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."

Last night our son Barrett said that he had spotted a small cat at the end of our long gravel driveway. By the time I wandered down to the spot where he had seen it, it was no longer there. As I walked back toward the farm house, I heard rustling coming from the wild meadow. Something was moving. The first thing I saw a pair of velvety grey ears poking out of the long grass . I stopped and and said "kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, and in one amazing and effortless leap the little darling sprang out of the long grass and came running towards me with reckless abandon.I picked him up, and he rubbed his head against my face while purring like a two stroke engine. I placed him gently on the ground, and he followed me the rest of the way, matching me stride for stride.

Emily Bronte and Finch were not overly impressed with this furry interloper, and did their best to ignore him outright.

I brought him a can filled with dry cat food, and I watched as he happily wolfed it down. I refilled the can, and he ate the entire can in no time.

I sat down on the back steps and he jumped on my lap and got comfy. Before too long, he was sound asleep.

This morning he was not at the back door. I hope he comes back to Dunblane, but if he does not, that is okay. We shared a moment, a connection , and it made a difference.

"For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat...."

This is a call to action, sisters and brothers. To look around and identify those in need, and to do something about it.

Let us pray

Blessed are you, creator of all,
to you be praise and glory for ever.
As your dawn renews the face of the earth
bringing light and life to all creation,
may we rejoice in this day you have made,
as we wake refreshed from the depths of sleep,
open our eyes to behold your presence
and strengthen our hands to do your will,
that the world may rejoice and give you praise.
Blessed be God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God for ever.

Gob bless our little reflection group.

Now go out there and take on the day.

Bendiciones infinitas

Paz

I love you

John

If the kitty does come back to Dunblane, I will need suggestions for his name.
